Location Prediction for Mobile Location-Based Services
Project summaryIn location-based services (LBSs), the service is provided based on the user's current location. Location-prediction models are being developed to anticipate where a user will be next, in advance of demanding a location-based service. The key advantage is the timeliness of information, either for advance planning by the user or to eliminate processing delays. Most of the current location prediction research is focused on generalized location models, where the geographic extent is divided into regular-shape cells. The new approaches under development in this project show encouraging results in terms of accuracy, memory usage and execution time. Return to Adrian Hopgood's page. |
